Then let me say: You Should Definitely Do It! There is no more satisfying experience than sharing your art with young artists who are so hungry and willing to learn. There is no greater rush than seeing your students on stage, performing their hearts out to a screaming and enthusiastic audience of friends, family and fans! You did that….you empowered those kids to express themselves through their art! And you will have so much fun doing it!
Sign up now….we need musicians, visual artists, filmmakers, photographers, actors, dancers, comedians, fundraisers, administrators, lighting and sound people, recording arts engineers, writers, illustrators, costumers, carpenters…..you name it. YEAH! Volunteer Policies and Procedures
- All Volunteer must be at least 18 years of age.
- All Volunteers must complete a volunteer application, background check, and volunteer contract. YEAH! reserves the right to decline to allow volunterrs to serve in YEAH programs and activities based upon the volunteer’s application, information and/or background check results, in the event YEAH! determines that the volunteer has withheld or fabricated information on the volunteer application.
- The use of alcohol, ilicit or illegal drugs and/or tobacco products of any kind is strictly prohibited while volunteering. If a volunteer appears to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs while volunteering, he or she will be asked to leave the facility immediately and will be removed from the schedule for and future shifts.
- Volunteers should use language that is reasonably appropriate for all ages. No cursing or swearing is allowed on YEAH!’s premises, during any of YEAH!’s activities, and particularly never within the hearing of YEAH!’s participants or their parents or guardians.
- A volunteer should never be alone with a student / participant. This is for the volunteer’s safety as well as the participant/student’s safety. If you must accompany a student somewhere, or work with a student in a secluded area of the facility or other YEAH! location, YOU ARE REQUIRED TO HAVE ANOTHER VOLUNTEER WITH YOU AT ALL TIMES!
- If a student/participant is not following the rules of YEAH!, is misbehaving or causing discomfort or risk of injury of any sort to any other student, a volunteer, or staff member, the volunteer will give the student a verbal warning and ask that he/she cease his offending behavior immediately. If the participant does not cease, or if has to be warned a second time, his parent will be called and asked to come and pick the student up immediately. A volunteer shall never lay hands on a student or try to restrain the student unless he is about to cause bodily injury to himself or to another. In the event of exigent circumstances or emergency, a staff member should be notified and the police should be called immediately.
- If you become aware of any medical issue or emergency with either a student or other volunteer, or staff member, contact a staff member immediately. YEAH! does not administer medication, nor do we allow medication to be taken by any participant in our facility. If a parent or guardian wants to medicate a student, he or she must do so prior to the student’s arriving at our facility, or he or she must come to the facility and administer the medication personally. YEAH! may make exceptions to this rule in the event that a student has a medical condition that requires him to always have an emergency medication on his person, such as an Epipen or an inhaler. If a student has such a condition, and the parent or guardian has asked for an exception to this rule, the student may be allowed to bring this emergency medication into our facility.
- Volunteers should wear a YEAH name badge at all times.
- Once you have been accepted as a volunteer with YEAH! you will be asked to sign a form that you have read these policies and procedures as well as complete a form containing questions to perform your background check.
