Johnny B. and the Balladeers to Perform Benefit Concerts for YEAH!

Johnny B. and the Balladeers, a popular local band featuring John Blankenship, Avent Lane, Ken and Sarah Frizzell and Billy Yearwood, will be appearing on the first Thursday of every month, beginning Thursday, February 2, 2012, at UnCorked, to benefit Youth Empowerment through Arts & Humanities, Inc.  The concerts will begin at 5:00 p.m. and last until 7:00 p.m., and business people, shoppers, and early and late diners alike are invited to join in the fun for the cause of the arts for young people ages 10-17.   There will be no cover, but a small suggested donation to YEAH will be encouraged and greatly appreciated.  UnCorked, a wine and tapas bar, will be serving its delicious and unique menu of small bites and delicious wines and beverages; and Johnny B. and the Balladeers will be playing their favorite music for all comers.

Johnny B and the Balladeers have been playing old timey country music together for many years now, and blended their instruments and voices together for the first time at Miller’s Grocery in Christiana, where they appeared every Friday night for several years.  They are currently appearing at the Readyville Mill every Saturday morning.  Their Americana repertoire spans from the American standards of Stephen Foster to classic folk, country western, rock and roll, blues and their own unique original tunes.   And their comedic and jovial interactions with the audience make for fun and light hearted enjoyment for all.

Happy New Year from all of us at Tennessee Teens Rock Camp! We couldn’t be more excited to move into our third year of TNTRC. Since camp, we’ve been working to raise money for our Adopt-a-Camper fund. We kicked off our fundraising season with a recurring event we call “Night of the Living Cover Bands” right around Halloween. We had a raffle and a costume contest, and a bunch of local bands including Heavy Cream, Tristen, The Non-Commissioned Officers, Spaceship of the Imagination, and Uncle Skeleton, all did sets of cover songs. And hey, YEAH! has another Night of the Living Cover Bands coming up on March 17th! That’ll be in Murfreesboro at Wallstreet. Don’t forget to wear green!

In December, another group of local musicians organized a production of Les Miserables “In Concert,” and donated all the proceeds to TNTRC and our partner program, Southern Girls Rock n’ Roll Camp. Almost everyone involved with the production has been a volunteer or donor for one of YEAH!’s rock camps, and it was an honor to see the people who make rock camp possible creating a whole new and different kind of art–in the form of musical theater. This holiday season, we were thankful for the endless generosity of our volunteers whose talents are a beautiful and constant contribution to this community.

Possibly our biggest news yet, however, is the addition of a second session of TNTRC! Due to overwhelming demand, YEAH! has decided to open a session of TNTRC in Murfreesboro this summer, in addition to the Nashville session. TNTRC-Murfreesboro will take place June 11-16 at the McFadden School of Excellence.

Welcome to the first year of TNTRC’s Murfreesboro session! We here at YEAH! are quite excited to extend our co-ed Tennessee Teen’s Rock Camp Program to Murfreesboro. We will be holding our inaugural session from June 11-16 at McFadden School of Excellence and we can’t wait to see you there!

For those of you who aren’t familiar with the TNTRC program, we began in 2010 in Nashville and have enjoyed two successful sessions thus far. With our camp community growing, we wanted to extend this co-ed opportunity to our Murfreesboro family. We hope to bring the rock camp experience to as many kids as possible regardless of gender and level of experience. As with all our camp programs, you don’t need to have ever picked up an instrument before to join in the fun!

Our first official TNTRC-Murfreesboro benefit will be on March 17th at Wallstreet. This 21+ event will be one of our Night of the Living Cover Band events and we are so excited to join in the fun. Watch our blog, facebook, and twitter for more updates on this and other events.

We also want to thank all of our early registrants for our first year of TNTRC in Murfreesboro. Together we are going to start of something awesome!

Happy New Year to all our wonderful SGRRC community! We cannot tell you how excited we are to be ushering in our tenth camping season. All of us that have been lucky enough to be part of SGRRC over the years are always humbled and thrilled to see how much we’ve grown. With registration for the 2012 camp session well under way, we want to thank all of you who participated in our holiday registration events. We are so excited to see the names of returning campers on the list as well as some new members to the SGRRC family!

On January twentieth at Patterson Park Community Center, we are hosting a Movie Premiere for our 2011 Showcase Film. We know you guys have been waiting a while for the showcase footage, but we promise, you will not be disappointed! The film looks amazing, and we can’t wait to show it to you on the big screen at Patterson Park! We hope to see as many campers and volunteers from our 2011 session at the event! What a great opportunity for a reunion, don’t you think? Our campers are the star of this show and we want you all there to celebrate! The event begins at 8:00 pm with doors opening at 7:30 pm. You can pre-order tickets here at sgrrc.org, and all attendees get a free download of the entire film to have for themselves! Also, all 2011 alumni and registered 2012 campers attend for free!

Lastly, we are so very proud to announce that YEAH’s co-ed camp, Tennessee Teens Rock Camp will be holding a second session in Murfreesboro this summer!
