YEAH! ROCK BLOCK REGISTRATION NOW OPEN

YEAH! Rock Block is a music education program where students learn the art of playing music through the experience of playing in a commercial music band. Each session now is ten weeks long, with eight practices and two showcase concerts. Once a student has applied, she/he will be placed in a band based on instrument, experience, and availability. Each practice is an hour and a half long. The bands decide what style of music to write, what their name will be, and all other things that go into making a band. At the end of the session, our students will get to perform with their bands at TWO concert showcases which take place at professional music venues. These showcases are open to the public and allow students to show off their talent and growth in the program. Seats are limited so do not miss out on your opportunity to join.   GET MORE INFORMATION AND REGISTER AT YEAHROCKBLOCK.ORG   … Read More...

THE CATT’S First Semester Comes to a Slam-Bang Conclusion!

The Children’s Academy Theatre of Tennessee has finished its first semester with a real bang! Its premiere production of Honey Nut Mario, written by and starring acting students in the YEAH! acting class, played to a full house on Friday night, November 18, 2011, complete with on stage antics, perfect stage management, professional lighting and sound effects, and just a touch of magic! Everybody went away smiling, knowing we had worked very hard and had pulled it off---just in the nick of time---as always in the theatre, right?!? Click here to download a copy of the program. We welcomed a new working member to our professional teaching staff, and her name is Sarah McDaniel. She is a Youth Theatre major at MTSU, and she too showed up just in the nick of time and volunteered to help design and build our set! She worked so well with the students, made such great decisions in execution of the students’ designs, and made such a valuable contribution to our production. And after all … Read More...

Styx Rock to the Rescue

Keeping Music Alive in Nashville

Styx and Rock to the Rescue were so honored to partner with two great organizations in Nashville: YEAH (Youth Empowerment through Arts and Humanities) and NATD (Nashville Association of Talent Directors.) Both organizations focus on providing opportunities for youth to get involved in music. YEAH is an impressive organization with over a decade of fabulous work under their belt, providing music camps for girls, co-ed music programs, and scholarship opportunities for kids who would otherwise not have access to music programming. NATD gives scholarships to budding music business students and brings industry leaders into classrooms to teach students about working in the music industry. It was fantastic to work with both organizations at the historic Ryman Auditorium in Nashville. We had a wonderful visit in Nashville! The Ryman is a gorgeous building with a rich history. The band and crew enjoyed our time before the show perusing the artifacts of bluegrass history that lined the … Read More...

Adopt-A-Camper and Make a Difference

SGRRC and TNTRC are committed to providing an unlimited number of need-based scholarships to all campers of limited financial means. We have never had to turn a camper away, and we don't plan on breaking that record this year.

Last year YEAH was able to raise all the necessary scholarship dollars for all of our Summer Camps, and we did so solely through the individual donations of people like you.

Specialty Plates support TAC and YEAH!

Did you know? You can purchase a specialty license plate! That’s right, a large portion of the purchase price of any and all specialty license plates sold by the state of Tennessee goes into the Tennessee Arts Commission’s fund from which they make grants to nonprofit arts organizations. And when sales are down, as they are now in this slower economy, then grant funds are down as well. So if you ever thought about getting a specialty license plate with your initials on it, or your favorite university’s logo on it, or one of those great plates that proclaims “I love the arts!”, go ahead, buy it now. You will be supporting not only our efforts but the efforts of all artists and arts centers in the state. You can order these specialty plates online here. There are over 100 specialty plates to choose from.
